There are still a few restrictions linked to our normal operations as a result of the continuing pandemic. We have very much welcomed and enjoyed the easing of restrictions so that families are now allowed to enter the school grounds. This was an element of normal school that we really missed for most of last year.
Staff and visitors are required to maintain appropriate social distancing whenever possible. When this is not possible masks should be worn. Please practise good hand hygiene when visiting school. Additional cleaning is continuing each day. This has a focus on high touch points such as classroom tables, door handles and toilets.
Parents/Carers are allowed on site. Parents/Carers who stay on site for longer than 15 minutes need to sign in at the school office. Parents/Carers should avoid gathering in larger groups. In practical terms this means that parents/carers are very welcome to bring their children into school at the start of the day and to collect them from the school grounds at the end of day. Please try to time your arrival and departure to stay within the 15 minute limit.
Parents/Carers can enter the school buildings. Please be aware of the need to avoid large groups inside. In practical terms it would be best to avoid entering the buildings unless you have a specific question to ask your child’s teacher. It was wonderful to see just how independently all the children managed to complete their morning routines last year.
We are permitted to run assemblies for staff and students but not with parents/carers attending. In any gathering when there is a mix of school students and parents we have to apply a limit of 1 person (including children) to every 2sq meters. Even our school hall is not large enough to accommodate our 450 students, 35 staff and any visitors.
This limit also means that at this stage we cannot run any of our larger events until such time as there are no limits. For this term we are looking at other alternatives for Dance Night. We will contact parents of children in years 3 to 6 separately to consult with you about our camp program.
We continue to look forward to the time when there are no limits and we can return to our normal unrestricted operations.
