Drysdale Primary School

Potato Fair Friday 22nd March

The Potato Fair organisation is going ahead at full steam. We have a great team putting together all the activities and rides for a fun night for our community.

Keep an eye out on the socials and the newsletter for all the details.

This year we will have an electronic sign up for volunteers and we need as many as possible for the night to be a success.

Check out the article in the Bellarine Times.

Drysdale Community Market – Thank You

I would like to formally recognise and thank Rhiannon Tanner for the amazing work she has done in organising, administering, and supervising our Community Market on Sunday’s for the past two years.

The market is the school’s largest and longest running fundraising event. Each year we are able to support the school’s well-being program with a fantastic donation of $20,000.

It is a very important community event both for the Drysdale PS community and for the broader Drysdale community and the effort that she has put into making it a success has been amazing.

Due to work and family commitments Rhiannon has stood down as the organiser. Thank you, Rhiannon, for all the work you have done.

NAPLAN

Preparation work has already begun in Year 3 & 5 for this year’s NAPLAN testing which is held from March 13th – 25th. As always, it is a family decision to have your child participate in NAPLAN. If you have any concerns about your child participating, please see Mrs Irvine in Year 5 or Mrs Thomas in Year 3 (or myself or Kate Wojcik) for further advice and discussion.

There are protocols and forms to complete prior to NAPLAN, should a family withdraw their child.

Parent Curriculum Contributions

A huge thank you to our families who have supported us with making voluntary Curriculum, Connewarre District Sports (Seniors Only), Grounds & Maintenance, Sentral and/or Wellbeing Contributions via WINC. Your support is greatly appreciated as these funds will be used to enhance the learning environment for your children.

If you didn’t pay voluntary contributions through WINC and would still like the opportunity, an option to make part or full payment for voluntary contributions will be available via the Sentral Parent Portal this week.

Curriculum Contributions (previously known as Essential Student Learning Items) – support items and activities that help deliver fundamental curriculum or subject learning e.g. General classroom materials and equipment. Further information regarding Parent Payments and Curriculum Contributions can be found at 2024 Parent Payment Information in the Resources Folder on Sentral and on our website 2024 Booklists & Parent Payment Information. Parents/Carers can choose the amount they would like to contribute. If you are unable or choose not to make financial contributions, your child will not be disadvantaged or denied access to the resources required to deliver the curriculum. We will continue to provide all students with instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian Curriculum.

Connewarre District Sports (Seniors Only) – supports our budding athletes with the provision of competitions at district, region and state level.

Grounds & Maintenance – assists the school with basic maintenance of our grounds and buildings.

Sentral – our subscription to Sentral allows us to communicate with families and also assists staff by providing essential administrative tools eg. attendance, activities, sick bay, reports.

Wellbeing – benefits all students during their primary school years in areas of inclusion, social interaction, general health and wellbeing.

Potato Fair Volunteers – Can You Help?

Our Potato Fair is a major school event and we need volunteers! This year we need your help more than ever.

If everyone can assist in at least ONE timeslot on the evening it would be appreciated.

This year we have split the activities into year levels so families will be able meet other families in their child/ren’s year level. When signing up please look for your year group. eg Junior Classes Volunteer – Animal Farm.

If you have children in different year groups feel free to sign up for both!!!

Please sign up by accessing the link below. It’s a great way to help and meet others in your school community! Look forward to seeing you there!

Cake Stall

We are holding a cake stall at the Potato Fair and would love some help from our school community by baking some yummy treats to be sold. Cake stall donation packs (plate, label, bag, tie and drop off instructions) are getting ready to be sent home with your child this week.

Please remember to use the label enclosed to write the name of the product and list the ingredients – anything without an ingredient label unfortunately cannot be sold.

Please note we do not have access to a fridge to keep things cold, therefore please avoid using fresh cream or anything which can spoil without refrigeration.

Baked goods MUST be dropped off on the day of the Potato Fair (Friday the 22nd of March) in the Haven from 8:30-9:15am (opposite the canteen) or at the cake stall from 2:30pm onwards near the Prep Building and get your plate recorded by a Parents and Friends Volunteer.

If your child has misplaced their donation pack or you wish to bake up some extra delicious goodies for our Cake Stall, there are extra plates available in the office.

Thank you for your ongoing support. See you at Potato Fair!
