This Thursday (final day of Term 1) we are holding a Casual Dress Day to raise funds for Heart Kids. The conventional day for Heart Kids is Sweetheart Day on February 14, but our Junior School Council have decided to hold our own version of this day to end Term 1. Don’t forget to wear a splash of red and bring gold coin donation.
All funds raised from our Sweetheart Day will go towards supporting Aussies affected by congenital/childhood heart disease (CHD), the single biggest killer of kids under the age of 1.
At Assembly earlier this week, we heard from Sarah and Ella whose little brother William was born with a congenital heart disease. They spoke of the impact it has had on them and their family as well as the terrific support Heart Kids have provided.
Celeste and Jack also mentioned some CHD facts
- Every day, 8 babies are born with a heart defect.
- Childhood heart disease is the greatest killer of Aussie kids under the age of 1.
- There is no known cure of prevention.
