As a part of our Inquiry Big Idea for Term 1, ‘Living things have observable features and depend on each other for survival’, students attended Ecolinc to learn more about how plants and animals depend on each other and the environment to survive. Students examined various native animals, observed a range of plant adaptations, explored grassland ecosystem feeding relationships and investigated the effect of urbanization on native animals.

First, we got on the bus to go to Ecolinc and we sat next to a friend. We got off the bus and got into our groups. Then we went to our first activity and we saw a stuffed platypus. We saw animals that we would find in Australia, such as a Blue Tongue Lizard.
We had our yummy snacks and played a quick running game for recess. After recess, we went to another activity and learned about food chains. We learned that if we didn’t have grasses most animals will eventually die.
It was time to have some delicious lunch and we played duck, duck, goose! After lunch, we went to our final session and learned about plants. We learned that some plants explode and it was really funny to see them explode. Finally, we went back on the bus and went back to school. We arrived back at 4 pm.
