Thank you for everything that you are doing to support your children’s remote learning. We have very much enjoyed hearing and seeing you rise to this challenge in true amazing Drysdale fashion. We do understand that it is not easy and that most of you are not trained teachers. We know that you are trying your best and that some things will go better than others.
This is an entirely new experience for all of us. We are also trying our best and finding that some things are going better than others. We talk frequently as a staff team about what we have learnt each day and will try to adjust our approaches to help make this as positive an experience as we can for everyone. About three quarters of the staff also have their own children at home and are experiencing the challenges from both a parent’s and a teacher’s perspective.
We are working on helping families with internet access where this is limited. We have submitted our requests to the Department of Education and are waiting for the responses. We do provide a paper copy of the learning grids in the school foyer for families who need this option. There are also boxes of take home reading books for children in Years Prep to 2. There is no need to call ahead, please collect these from the office from 10:00am. Each year group’s grids are clearly labelled.
Currently, our administration office is working remotely due to the COVID-19 situation. The admin team are regularly monitoring our school’s email, website and Facebook page and are available to respond to your queries or forward them on to the appropriate staff member where necessary. The office is currently monitored by one member of the principal team each day. We strongly encourage families to communicate with the school via our digital platforms (i.e. email, website) and ask for your understanding and patience if you are trying to contact the school via telephone.
