At the beginning of each school year, we elect members of the School Council. Members hold their position for two years meaning that each year half the council positions fall vacant. This year the following council members are completing their current terms: Gary Absolom, Tammy Burke, Renee Colley, Scott Pearson (parent representatives), Rebecca Hoyne, Shane Kennedy and Simone Spencer-Gardner (staff representatives) and Bre Gage (community representative.) I would like to acknowledge the great work that these council members have done in helping the school develop and grow over the last couple of years. Scott Pearson and Tammy Burke have held the additional responsibilities of President and Vice-President respectively. I am very grateful to them for the perceptive and supportive discussions we have about the school and how we can collectively enable Drysdale Primary to be the best school possible for our community.
I am seeking nominations from parents who are interested in joining our School Council. Nomination forms are available from the Administration Office. Our School Council meets monthly on the third Tuesday of each month during term time (eight meetings in the year). Each member also sits on one of our four committees which also meet once per month at times convenient to the members of the committee.
Parents who would like to know more about the role of a school council member are most welcome to chat to me. I can often be found in the yard before and after school for anyone who wants an informal conversation. Alternatively, I will respond to a message left at the Administration Office in person or by telephone 03 5251 2272 or via email: dunlop-moore.philip.p@edumail.vic.gov.au
