We have been trialling a short mindfulness / relaxation session with the students in some classes. The sessions are run after lunch and last for 5 to 10 minutes aiming to give the children a chance to relax their bodies and minds, create a quiet, calm atmosphere in the classroom and help the students to focus and make the most of their learning in the afternoon.
These sessions have received very positive feedback from both the teachers and the students. Sessions like this can also help in achieving a better quality of sleep and a more relaxed approach to life.
There are a number of mindfulness and relaxation apps available. At school we have been using a free app called Smiling Minds, this app has different programs for different age groups. Other apps such as Calm are also available. Any of these apps are also suitable for adults.
