Welcome to week 6 of term one at Drysdale Primary School OSHC, doesn’t the time just fly. There are only 16 more days of school left until the school holidays, as the children have enthusiastically informed me.
This past week there has been lots going on at Drysdale Primary School OSHC. We have had numerous sessions with lots of Beyblades being brought in and used at the service, which has brought together a wide range of children from different age groups that might not normally interact. We have also had some group games being run by some of our older students, such as dead fish, cricket training sessions, and statues.
In terms of Arts and Crafts, sketching portraits, box construction, scooby strings and tracing pictures of animals have all been options, although by far the most popular activity this past week has been using the perler beads. While some of the children have been making their own, random designs, the children have developed their awareness of other cultures by making their own, anime style, food using the perler beads, such as strawberries, watermelon, icey poles, and pieces of bread.
PARENTS PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE CLOSED NEXT MONDAY 12TH MARCH DUE TO THE LABOUR DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY.
From next week (starting Tuesday the 13th of March) the majority of our prep students attending Before School Care will be able to choose to walk over to their classrooms on their own if they want to, however we will continue to pick up all prep children from their classrooms until at least mid way through term three. This develops the children’s independence, and is accordance with Camp Australia’s policy, which states that All prep students must be dropped off and collected from classrooms for the first six weeks of school.
With School Holidays fast approaching, school holiday clubs are opening up. This set of holidays there will be holiday programs running at Ocean Grove Primary School, Geelong East Primary School, Clairvaux Catholic Primary School, Montpellier Primary School and Fyans Park Primary School. Bookings can be made via https://www.campaustralia.com.au/holidayclubs
Parents, please be aware that there has been a change to the bookings structure at Camp Australia. This may result in a change in the amount you are paying to use the service, If you have any questions go to https://www.campaustralia.com.au/flexibility or call 1300 105 343.
Could parents please remember that we are legally not allowed to accept children into our care before 7:00 am, as before this time we are still setting up and getting everything organised for the session of before school care. Also, please remember that the official closing time for the service is 6:00 pm. Parents who pick their children after this time will incur a late fee. If you are running late and are not going to make it back to the service by 6:00 please contact us on 0404 427 452. If you don’t and it gets past 6:00 we will start calling people to find out what is going on. If we are unable to contact anyone, then, according to Camp Australia policy, the police may be contacted..
A friendly reminder for parents that for staffing and catering purposes children should be booked into OSHC through the Camp Australia head office, or if it is impractical to do so, through a staff member at OSHC.. Where possible bookings and cancellations should be made through the Camp Australia Head Office website https://www.campaustralia.com.au/ or phone number, which is 1300 105 343. This is to ensure that we have adequate numbers of staff present to care for your children, and that we have prepared enough food to go around at snack time.
In related news, could parents be sure to notify OSHC directly, or the Camp Australia head office, if your child will not be attending a session they are booked in for. This helps streamline the session for everyone else as we are not spending time trying to track down children who are not actually coming. This includes days when your child is absent from school for whatever reason. The Camp Australia Drysdale Primary School OSHC mobile number is 0404 427 452.
