There is no need to return any forms or money to school.

Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.

Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do again this year using your child’s 2024 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details.

Dogs On School Grounds

It is great to see and pat the friendly dogs that are dropping off and picking up students before and after school.

Please be aware that we have some students that are nervous around dogs, so we ask that they be kept away from entry ways into the building to allow students to enter and leave.

We also continue to welcome our Story Dogs in each week who are having a lovely time hearing junior students reading. They visit on Monday’s and Thursday’s.

Over the next year, we will be introducing a school therapy dog to the staff and students at Drysdale PS. In the coming months he will begin to visit to learn and integrate into the school environment and undergoes training. We look forward to having Harry on staff and can’t wait for you to meet him.

Volunteers Induction Training

Next week Kate Wojcik will be holding 2 short training sessions for any parents or carers that would like to volunteer and help our school in 2024. It will take about 20 minutes for the induction and to hear more about ways you can be involved in our school.

If you have completed this training in previous years, you will just need to meet with Kate for an OHS induction, which takes about 10 minutes, and you will be good to go again for this year. We will check that we have up to date WWCC records for anyone wishing to come in and help in classes or other areas of the school.

Training sessions will be at 3pm on Wednesday May 1 – just before home time – and Thursday May 2 at 9.10am – just after drop off – in the school library.

If you can’t make it to either of these sessions we can hold more in the coming weeks, so please reach out to Kate, via the office, for another time to be scheduled.

Walk Safely To School Day – Friday 10th May 2024

It’s that time of year again when our school seriously starts talking about walking!

Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. Although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine.

You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:

• Walking with them the whole way to school
• If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop
• If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.

Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great
opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.

Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday 10th May 2024!
