COVID Update – Masks for Students

From Monday 18th October students in Years 3 to 6 are required to wear a mask when they are inside the school buildings. Please make sure that your child’s mask is named. It is an obvious risk for one child to pick up and wear another child’s mask.

We encourage you to pack a spare, clean mask in a zip-lock bag in your child’s school bag in case the mask you send them to school in gets wet or dirty.

We anticipate that there will be some exemptions for a limited number of students. Once the detail of this information is available I will communicate this with our school community via Sentral.

As present, children under the age of 12 are the only part of our society who do not have access to a vaccine. The primary purpose of the mask is to protect the children. A secondary purpose is to help limit the spread of any infection by a child who is unknowingly positive.

Curriculum Day – Monday 25th October

Drysdale Primary will be closed on Monday October 25th for our fourth and final Curriculum Day for 2021.

This has been brought forward from later in Term 4 partly because the school review to which it was going to be linked has been postponed to Term 1 and partly because all children in Years 3 to 6 will already be at home on the 25th.

Drysdale Community Market This Sunday 17th October

The first market of the new season is happening this Sunday, October 17th. The market is held at the Drysdale Reserve next to the Football and Netball Club. It begins at 9am and runs through to 1pm. There are just under 100 stalls with a focus on home grown produce and home made items.

The market is run by the school. I wish to acknowledge the work of our market Co-Ordinator, Jac Absolom, and members of our School Council who help stallholders set up each month. The market is one of the school’s biggest fund raisers. All the money raised goes to support the school’s Well-Being and inclusion Program.

Please call in at the market on Sunday and help support this event.

The AP WrAP

Welcome back to all our Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 students this week. While only with us for two days a week this week and next, it is so wonderful to see them back and filling the classrooms and school yard with smiles, laughter and learning. It has been a long few months for our Year 3-6 students and we are so close to a full time return. Thank you to our staff, students and families for your persistence and support during these lockdown periods. I am sure everyone is just as excited as we are to have classes back at school.

Prep – 2 have settled back into the routines of school so well this term. Everyone has been busy in class, working hard and achieving some great success. Kevin shared some wonderful handwriting, as he practised writing letters with ‘tails’. Ryder and Ella in Prep have been practising their counting skills and working on addition skills of numbers from 0–10. They discovered some answers were in the teens!! So much clever work happening in P-2 already this term.

Nicole is on leave for the next two weeks and Amy Wright is stepping into her place to as Acting Assistant Principal through this time. If you need any support please call or email the school and as always, one of us will be in touch.

SunSmart Term 4 Reminder

Drysdale Primary School is a SunSmart school. Even though many days have been cloudy, the UV rating remains high. This means that students need to protect themselves against the harmful effect of the strong Australian sun.

During this term students must wear their hat outside during recess, lunchtime and any sport activities. Please make sure your child/children’s hats are clearly named.

Routleys Bakery Pie Drive

Thank you to all those who ordered from our recent pie drive fundraiser, we hope you enjoy your yummy goodies!  We appreciate everyone’s understanding with the date change and last-minute change with the order collection arrangements.

In such a difficult time with so much uncertainty and change impacting us all, we appreciate the support from our school community. Approximately $500.00 was raised towards the outdoor stage, a great result! We will share the final amount raised once the school has received the money from Routleys.

A huge thank you to Alycia for arranging the Pie Drive on behalf of the Parents and Friends Group and working through numerous challenges faced in and out of lockdown.
