Drysdale Primary School

Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 reports will be available through the Parent Portal tomorrow, you will receive a message via the Sentral parent app when they are available.

Linked to the reports, parents will be able to view our Continuum Tracker records for your child/children.

The Continuum Tracker shows which elements of the curriculum your child/children has learnt. This refinement allows us to focus in the reports on how your child/children work in class.

We hope that you enjoy the change of style and find this combination more useful.

The AP WrAP

What an amazing school community we have! The resilience shown over the last week has been amazing and we can’t thank all of our families enough for their quick pivot back into Remote Learning. For some it has been smooth, for others it hasn’t and that is ok! As always, looking after yourselves, your family and others can be a juggle along with work and Learning at Home. If you need any support, please don’t hesitate to contact one of us.

Our staff have also made a U-turn back to Remote Teaching and Learning and last night we spent time as a staff on Webex as a team. It was so lovely to ‘see’ each other and have an open conversation about our Staff Values. Some of us have decided that we need to adjust our camera angles! Ha Ha!

Please see read more for photos!!

SWPBS in Remote Learning

With Remote Learning upon us once again, there are so many opportunities for our school community to display our values.

It is almost as if Remote Learning was specifically to build our Resilience. For so many of us, we would all prefer to be back in the classroom. However, we just have to make the best of the situation we find ourselves in.

This means showing lots of Acceptance that we can’t do much to change the situation we are in. But, we can do our best to find the positives in everything we do.

Having to be an independent learner is an excellent chance to work on our Integrity. So for much of the day, we don’t have a supervising teacher (or parent) looking over our shoulder to ensure we are on track. Temptations surround us. There is the pantry, the fridge, the trampoline, the xBox, the phone, the bed, the couch, the TV, etc, etc, and those with Integrity are able hold off on those temptations until they have completed what they are meant to be doing.

Success can come in many forms during Remote Learning. It may be successfully completing a task from a teacher. It might be successfully troubleshooting a computer or wifi issue. It might be successfully helping your younger sister or brother with their needs. It may even be successfully cooking a batch of chocolate chip cookies as a treat for the family!

It is very important to make sure we are looking for moments of Enjoyment in every day. These don’t have to be big things. In fact, sometimes the smaller the better. Crank up the music and give the family a quick dance break, grab the dog and go for a walk, dust off the bikes and find some trails around town, raid the cupboard and pull out an old board game or find the cards and teach the family a new game to play together.

Have you got a photo that encapsulates one or more of our values from Remote Learning? Feel free to send them through to  drysdale.ps@edcuation.vic.gov.au and we may feature them in a gallery in next week’s Link.

Bellarine Division T-Ball

Last Thursday our Girls and Boys T-Ball teams competed in the Bellarine Division T-Ball championships. Both teams spent the majority of term 2 training for this day, putting in many lunchtimes at school.

The girls had a slow start to game 1, but then went on a winning streak for their next 3 games. Great teamwork and communication was the key to success.

The boys were off to a flyer, winning their first 2 matches but unfortunately were outplayed in their final game. Both teams finished 2nd overall in the competition, a great result for DPS.

Special thanks must go to the parents who came to support and help, particularly Kate Lockhart, Jesse Creese, Melita Shawcross and Tara Connor for managing, coaching and scoring the girls team.

Camp Australia

It was a fun filled first week back at Drysdale Primary School for term 3, although unfortunately with Lockdown commencing it meant a stressful end to the week. As per prior lockdowns we are open only for the children of essential workers who are also attending supervised remote learning at the School until such time as the lockdown is lifted. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated as it helps us provide a safe environment for the children in our care during these challenging times.
