Student Reports For Semester 1

The Education Department has made a change to the reporting requirements for Semester 1 reports. The new date for publication is the second week of next term.

As a result our Semester 1 reports will be released to parents on Thursday July 22nd via the Sentral parent portal. The teachers are very busy writing the reports.

Based on feedback for families, we are continuing our quest to make the reports meaningful and accessible, while also meeting the Education Department content requirements.

There will be changes to the style of reports that we hope you will help you understand and support your children’s learning

End of Term 2 – Thursday 24th June

The last day of Term 2 for students at Drysdale Primary School is Thursday June 24th and pick up time will be the normal time of 3.30 pm.

We are finishing on Thursday because Friday June 25th is now our rearranged Pupil Free Day. We return to school for the start of Term 3 on Monday 12th July.

May I thank families for their patience while we have had to reschedule this day to find a day when the presenter and our staff can work together on the second half of our learning about developing writing. This is important work for which we can already see an impact form the first day back in April.

Junior School Council Fundraiser – Last Day Of Term Thursday 24th June

Each term our Junior School Council hold a fundraising event to support a charity of relevance to our community.  This term we have chosen to hold a casual dress day on Thursday, June 24th – the last day of term – to support people facing the challenges of being homeless.

In return for a gold coin donation, students can come to school wearing casual dress i.e. not school uniform.

The COVID pandemic has created extra challenges for people who are homeless or living in insecure accommodation. Lockdowns and the reductions in casual employment are bringing more people to the point where they cannot maintain their accommodation. When these challenges are added to the cold winter, the outlook for people having to live on the streets is very bleak.

We are trying to highlight this issue within our school community to help our children gain an understanding of the wider world in which we live.

Year 6 Camp Reminder

The deadline for the return of camp permission forms and deposits is this Friday, 18th June. It will be very helpful to our organisation if all students in Years 6 can return the form clearly indicating if they are or are not going to be attending the camp.

With changed conditions for cancellations, we can only include children in the camp group who have returned both the permission form and paid the deposit by the due date. Families who wish to discuss alternative payment options should contact the school office as soon as possible.

Please find attached camp form, you can also print one from the Sentral Parent Portal.

Success for Former Student

We very proudly congratulate former student Tess Craven on her outstanding year of football.

Tess recently won the Best and Fairest for the Geelong Falcons after a very impressive season in 2021. She has now followed up that success with an invitation to the AFLW Draft Combine.

This is a major step towards being drafted to an AFLW club and anyone who knows Tess knows just how hard she has been working on this goal over many, many years. Tess finished Year 6 here at Drysdale PS in 2015 and has been such a terrific role model for so many of our students down at the Drysdale Football Club.

We wish her all the best of luck and will be keeping an eye on the AFLW Draft on July 27.

Thank you to everyone who brings nude food every Tuesday. Not only is it a healthy choice for you, but it helps keep our playground and local environment clean.

Every week we count up how many kids brought nude food in every class. We announce winners every Friday afternoon in assembly.

Our class winners this week are PE and 4DF.

Our individual prize winners are Penny from Prep and Buddy Year 4. They both received a stainless steel drinking straw Congratulations!

Thank you to Drysdale Coles for sponsoring nude food this term.
