Drysdale Primary School

Assistant Principal

We recently concluded the appointment process to replace our Assistant Principal Felicity Stark who left DPS last December to take up a Principal position near Ballarat. I am delighted to inform our community that Nicole Alonso has successfully been appointed to this position.

Nicole has proved herself to be an outstanding educational leader both here at Drysdale PS in her roles as Learning Specialist and Acting Assistant Principal as well as in her previous role as Leading Teacher at Northern Bay College. She will be leading our curriculum development as well as providing invaluable support and coaching to other staff, support to me, and support to our community.

Congratulations Nicole!

Prep 2021 Online Parent Information Session

This evening we are holding an online information session for the parents of children who are starting school in Prep in January 2021.

If you have a child starting school this coming year, you should have received an email with details of how to access this meeting. If you have not received this message, please contact the school office via email on drysdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au

We held our first transition visit last week. What a wonderful group of children who are joining us in 2021! They had to gather at the gate and come across to the classroom without their parents which was tricky for staff, parents and children. The children took it all in their stride and enjoyed exploring the Prep classrooms. We hope they all had an excellent time at DPS and we are looking forward to officially welcoming them as our Preps in 2021!

Drysdale Community Market

Drysdale Market – Help Needed

The Drysdale Community Market that is organised and run by the school is restarting on Sunday, November 15th. I am extremely grateful to Jac Absolom our market co-ordinator who has done an extraordinary amount of work to set up the market and complete all the organisational adjustments necessary for this to be a COVID safe event.

One requirement of our COVID safe plan is that we monitor the number of people on site at any one time. To do this we are looking for a dozen volunteers who can offer 30 minutes of their time on Sunday morning to support our school’s major fundraising effort. The money we raise supports the school’s well-being program that reaches out to any of our students who have concerns such as making friends, anxiety or anything else that is troubling them.

If you are able to help for half an hour between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday 15th November, please let me know either by email philip.dunlop-moore@education.vic.gov.au or in person at the gate where I am usually on duty at the beginning or end of school.

The AP WrAp

We have a refreshed SWPBS display in the admin corridor and our first student to bank for this was Tom from Year 3. Tom chose to have his writing displayed for all to see, and to celebrate him demonstrating our SWPBS behaviours! Students across the school have started banking their tokens from throughout the year which is fabulous!

This week we also had some visitors to the AP office sharing their work around Indonesian. Jagger, Billie, Xavier and Tahlia from Year 2 shared some amazing writing they completed while learning how to write a story in Indonesian.

Mascot Competition

Nearly all Drysdale Primary School students have entered a character to represent our RAISE values as part of the mascot design competition.

The Kids Matter team have been working hard to shortlist entries, however due to the extremely high standard across all year levels, that has become a long list! Entries will now be presented to the staff to select a number of finalists, before presenting the final round of entries to students to vote on designs that will become our RAISE mascots.
