Year 5 Camp to Maldon

Last week 60 students and 6 teachers / parents, ventured to Maldon where they stayed at the Blue Light Youth Camp. This is a well established camp that Drysdale Primary School students have been accessing for many years. The week was fun filled with a lot of activities including rock climbing, damper making, mini golf, archery and completing the obstacle course. The focus of the camp is bike riding which is the reason for the extensive bike-ed course undertaken by the students in year 5 across all of Term 3. The students were challenged by some of the riding as we covered close to 20km on a couple of the days. On Wednesday we caught the steam train back to the township which meant we didn’t have to ride up the long hill – phew! It was a really great week and we would like to thank Mrs. Rebecca Blair and Mr. Lee Glanvill for giving up their family time to attend the camp and support the students.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

On Friday 19th October Blanche Denmead, James Field, Shane Kennedy, Kellie Thomas, Meaghan Ward and Amy Wright attended the first day of training for our new school wide behaviour support program.  This is supported and run by the Department of Education and we were lucky enough to spend the day at Hamlyn Views School.  As a team we reviewed our vision, values and current behaviour management practices.  The next step for all staff will be to develop a matrix of expected behaviours.  This work will be done on our Curriculum day in December.  The members of the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support team are excited about the program and the positive impact it will have on our school.  We will continue to share as the program develops.
