Firstly the OSHC team at Drysdale Primary School would like to wish all of the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles and other special people in the lives of the children at Drysdale Primary School a very happy fathers day. We hope you all had a great day, and were spoiled by your families.
At OSHC we have been doing some seed planting as gifts for fathers day. The children chose what sort of seeds to use, and followed instructions from educators in order to plant them, building their respect and awareness for the environment.
We have also been working on our Wall of Hands banner, with the children contributing their favourite books to the banner, connecting the Indigenous flag with literacy, as our fund-raising focus for this term is the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, and closing the Indigenous literacy gap. We have started our fundraising activities, with our ongoing footy tipping competition, as well as a guess how many marbles there in in the jar competition (10 cents an entry), a guess how many perler beads there in in the jar competition (10 cents an entry) and a guess how many loom bands there in in the jar competition (10 cents an entry), and a colouring in competition (20 cents an entry.) These competitions will run through to the 17th of September, with Camp Australia’s charity branch, The Camp Australia Foundation, dollar matching our fundraising efforts.
With less than three full weeks of school remaining for this term the school holidays are fast approaching. Bookings are now open for Camp Australia’s School holiday Programs. The closest Camp Australia services offering a school holiday program to Drysdale Primary School are Ocean Grove Primary School, Geelong East Primary School and Fyans Park Primary School. Bookings can be made via www.campaustralia.com.au/holidayfun
A friendly reminder for parents that for staffing and catering purposes children should be booked into OSHC through the Camp Australia head office, or if it is impractical to do so, through a staff member at OSHC.. Where possible bookings and cancellations should be made through the Camp Australia Head Office website or phone number, which is 1300 105 343. This is to ensure that we have adequate numbers of staff present to care for your children, and that we have prepared enough food to go around at snack time.
In related news, could parents be sure to notify OSHC directly, or the Camp Australia head office, if your child will not be attending a session they are booked in for.. This helps streamline the session for everyone else as we are not spending time trying to track down children who are not actually coming. This includes days when your child is absent from school for whatever reason. The Camp Australia Drysdale Primary School OSHC mobile number is 0404 427 452.
