Last week was our annual celebration of literature in the 2017 Book Week. This year’s theme was “Escape to Everywhere” and throughout the school there were elaborate costumes, creatively decorated doors, visiting authors and special guest readers.
On Monday we launched Book Week with a fantastic Book Character Parade. Mr Stephens compered the event with his usual injection of humour and spontaneity. The students and staff proudly showed their costumes. It was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents and special friends come along to share in the fun in what was probably our best attended Assembly for the year.
Thanks to the characters, (Mr Dunlop-Moore as the scarecrow, Miss Stark as Dorothy and Mrs Denmead as Glinda), from The Wizard of Oz for coming to the classrooms to share a favourite picture storybook with the students and their class teacher. The entrance of the school building featured ‘The Yellow Brick Road’ and the Wizard of Oz’s Emerald City where wishes are granted!
On Tuesday, the Prep to Year 2 students were visited by Patrick Guest, the author of That’s What Wings Are For. He entertained the students and staff, with puppets and props, as he shared his lovely story about being individual and different.
A big thank you to Mr Kennedy and Julie Penfold for all their wonderful photos below.
