Jay’s Dance Centre (JDC) is a new and refreshing school of dance run by former Drysdale Primary School student, Jay Taylor.
This passionate individual has danced across the Bellarine Peninsula since the age of 3. After starting Jay’s Dance Holiday Program in January, Jay decided to start his own business after the amount of interest and support he received from the local community. Jay’s Dance Centre focuses on hip hop, modern jazz, funk and contemporary dance for individuals from 5+ years. A 30+ Ladies Fitness & Fun dance class is also offered by Jay’s Dance Centre on Wednesday nights at the Springdale Neighborhood Centre hall from 8-9pm. This evening session concentrates on interacting with other 30+ ladies, dancing our best (even if we may not have the best rhythm and coordination), and most importantly laughing with one another but not at one another!
“Dance has always been a large part of my life. I have learnt so much already in this industry and have made so many new friends that share similar interests along the way. I struggled when I was younger as it wasn’t always accepted to be a boy and like dance. It actually helped build my self esteem and made me who I am today. I tried basketball, football etc which I did not enjoy… dance was what I was born to do and I’m so proud I continued to follow this obsession!!! I wanted to be able to offer a fun and physical outlet for boys. Doing what I am passionate towards and with those individuals who share these similar interests makes me feel so privileged and lucky to be doing what I am each day. Having two younger sisters, I love the energy and enthusiasm that young kids bring to dance!”
Principle, Jay Taylor, works on dance technique and teaches different choreography workshops keeping the students excited and eager to learn more as the year progresses. Jay’s Dance Centre is currently made up of approximately 70 students, with more enrolling throughout the second term of 2017. Jay welcomes both boys and girls interested in dance to join him and his dance family in the new year. The focus is on fun and expressing rather than impressing so why not come along and give it a go. “We have 4 terms a year, with an amazing end of year concert filled with costumes, friends, family, music, dance and most importantly FUN!”
“A fantastic dance centre – my kids adore Jay and look forward to dance lessons every single week!” –

“My daughter loves going to Jay’s Dance Centre. She is allowed to express herself but still has structured dances to learn to funky new music. Jay is fabulous with the kids and they all love him.” –
Nicole Vincent (DPS parent)
Jay’s Dance Centre senior competition team looks forward to competing in Geelong and Melbourne throughout 2017. This troupe will be competing at several events during the year including Evolution Dance Competition and Splash Dance Festival.
Jay’s Dance Centre is located at the Springdale Neighborhood Centre for primary students and The Potato Shed for senior students.
