We were lucky enough to have the Drysdale CFA come along to talk to the Prep to Year 4s today. This visit was the culmination of our Bravery Unit in Bounce Back this term as the firefighters talked about having to be brave to help keep our community safe. We were then able to learn about how to stay safe at home through ‘stop, drop and roll’, calling 000 and having our own fire safety plan that we know and practise.
The students were then able to head outside to get a close look at the SUV and firetruck.
The day was a particular highlight for the Year 2s when their session was interrupted by an emergency callout for a fire over in St Leonards. According to Torey Senanayake, “it was the first time this had happened in five years of heading out to schools.” Luckily, there were able to come back again to catch up their sessions after lunch.
I liked it when we got to go see the car and truck outside and the back of the truck was pretty cool.” Piper (Year 1)
“I liked meeting Captain Koala again because last time I saw him at Clifton Springs Primary School I was scared of him!” Tahlia (Year 1).
