With this digital copy of The Link there are links to summaries of the teachers’ plans for this term’s teaching in English, Maths and inquiry subjects e.g. Science.
A number of parents have expressed an interest in knowing what their children are likely to be learning so that they can be more interested in what happens at school and so that they can support their child’s learning at home. I hope that you find this information useful.
When reading these summaries please be aware that these are summaries of much longer and detailed documents that the teachers use to plan both a term’s work and then separately the teaching in each week. The plans are indications of what is going to be taught in a week rather than a guarantee.
Teachers’ plans in all schools need to be flexible and can be subject to considerable change because the speed at which children learn can be unpredictable. Generally this means that if the children have learnt something more quickly than expected, the teachers move on earlier than planned to the next part of the curriculum. Alternatively if the children take a little longer than planned the teachers delay the introduction of the next part of the curriculum for a week or so and then use some planned catch up time to make sure everything is covered by the end of the year.
