During this somewhat unusual year I have been especially encouraged this last week by my experiences in school. I have been walking through the school checking in with the children and staff. The students are really engaged with their learning in all the classrooms and positively enjoying their class work. This is so wonderful to see at a time when it would be easy to allow distractions to interrupt.
Whether it is the Prep children learning their sounds, the Year 4s beginning to work out their concert songs or the Year 6s wrestling with how to round decimals, there is an energy, concentration and enthusiasm.
I also happened to meet one of our former School Captains who also demonstrated these qualities when he was at Drysdale Primary. He is now about to leave Bellarine Secondary and is looking to take up a university place in Melbourne next year.
I can see how the success our students achieve here at Drysdale Primary directly translates to success at Secondary School and success in the adult world. Being a school principal is a privilege. Being principal of Drysdale Primary School with such high quality students, staff and community members is a massive honour.
