The Year 6s enjoyed a very successful excursion to both Serendip Sanctuary in Lara and EcoLinc in Bacchus Marsh. This excursion was part of our Term 1 big idea, “living things grown and adapt to survive the physical condition of their environment” and gave the students the opportunity to see first-hand examples of animals and plants that call the Western Victorian Volcanic Plains their home. The students investigated these animals and plants and learnt all about the behavioural and structural adaptations that allow the species to survive. We also looked at some introduced species and the reasons they have thrived, along with the impact they have had on the native wildlife and vegetation. Finally, we looked at the impact of humans on this delicate and ever-shrinking natural environment. Click read more to view a photo gallery of our day.
