Purple Day aims to encourage people to talk about epilepsy and to remind those who live with seizures, that they are not alone.
Purple Day was founded in 2008, by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada. Motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy, Cassidy started Purple Day in an effort to get people talking about the condition and to let those impacted by seizures know that they are not alone. She named the day Purple Day after the internationally recognised colour for epilepsy, lavender.
To support epilepsy awareness, the Junior School Council are encouraging everyone to ‘wear a touch of purple’ this Friday. This could include a purple hair ribbon, purple headband, purple socks, purple t-shirt, purple badge, etc, etc.
Please note, this is not a casual clothes day, nor is it a fundraiser. The JSC are simply raising awareness about epilepsy and showing our support to those in our community who live with seizures.
