Grayson: My Nanna and Pop came with me to Special Persons Day. They brought an old kettle, an old camera and a pocket watch. My favourite part was seeing James’ fire gold hydrant!
Elise: My Nanna, Pa and Mum came with me to Special Persons Day. They brought a mini TV, it has a little screen on it. My favourite part of the day was getting to have a turn on all the different calculators.
Jack: I turned on the calculators and I typed lots of numbers into them! It was really fun!
Lakai: My Dad came in for Special Persons Day. He brought a Nintendo, which is a game you play. It only had one game on it which was the first game to come out! I also loved the coin machine, it was funny.
James: My Mum came and she brought something that helps the fire to blow. I learnt that old lanterns used to run on oil.
Primrose: I saw lots of Grandparents and I think some were 100 years old or maybe past that. I saw old photos that were in black and white. I loved Special Persons Day!
Kalista: I learnt how to make a special paper game that people used to play. I also got to see how people used to bake and cook. You didn’t have electrics so you had to use your muscles!
Ryan: My Nanny and Genga came and I learnt how to use an olden day phone. It had a spinning part in the middle and you had to use your fingers to turn it around to get the number you wanted. I really liked showing everyone this!
Benji: My favourite part of Special persons Day was getting to use an old telescope. When I put my eye up to it I could see really far away! It was really cool.
Amelia: My Mum and Grandpa came to Special Persons Day. They brought an old drill with them. You had to twist is around and around in a circle because they didn’t have any electricity. I really liked using the drill but it would take a long time to use it.
Eli: I really liked seeing the Queen’s handkerchief and the Maori headbands. They were both really special. These people got to see the Queen get crowned which is pretty amazing.
