Last Tuesday our class visited the Life Education Van and learnt so much! We learnt that playing with an online gamer that you don’t know is like letting a stranger in your house, we learnt what to do if you get sent a nasty or rude message online about you or someone else. We helped Harold the Giraffe with a problem he had – Harold was sent a message online that wasn’t very nice. We helped Harold to decide what to do, Harold told us that you should always treat other people the way you want to be treated yourself. Then we helped a character called Jack with his problem. People were making fun of him because a video was shown of Jack playing soccer, Jack tripped and missed the goal and everyone laughed. The video went onto the internet and Jack was getting cyberbullied. We talked about what you could do if this situation happened to you, all of the class ideas were great. It was an honour to have Gaye and Harold talk to us and we want to welcome them back every year. The Life Ed Van linked with lots of our school values, including integrity (doing the right thing) and resilience (how to bounce back from problems).
