The Book Week parade is always a special day in our school calendar. This year did not disappoint, with costumes of all shapes and sizes and even a pet lamb as a real-life prop! It was wonderful to see everyone showing off their favourite book character through costume and wonderful to have so many parents celebrating with us at assembly. You also may have noticed that the administration office and classroom doors look different this week, with each year level choosing a book theme and decorating their doors in this style. Many thanks must go to our parent community for all their support of Book Week, helping to create and source costumes is no easy task, so many thanks indeed. Thanks also to our wonderful staff for getting into the spirit of the week and making time in their learning programs for Book Week activities. But beyond the sparkle of the costumes and the excitement of door decorations, Book Week reminds us about the importance of reading! There is incredible power in children being involved in reading every night- whether it be having a go at their own reader, reading with a partner or listening to an adult read. All make a valuable contribution to your child’s development. If you need some more books in your house to foster this love of reading then the Book Fair is the perfect place to get a bargain this week. See our post below for more details.
