Last Tuesday, four of our Year 6 students took an early morning train to Melbourne to attend the Victorian Primary Schools Parliamentary Convention. Of the 2,500 schools across Victoria, Drysdale Primary School was selected as one of 47 schools to take part in the Convention. Hayden, Indi, Emily and Taj were selected from our Year 6 cohort to attend the Convention and did a brilliant job. They represented the school proudly in the Legislative Assembly, debating the question, “Should athletes and other celebrities use their popularity to influence social and political issues?” As well as contributing their own views to the topic, the students also heard from a number of other speakers on the topic, including the Leader of the Liberal Party, Michael O’Brien, Labor MP Tim Richardson and Rayoni Nelson from Schools Sports Victoria. Hayden, Indi, Emily and Taj were exemplary role models for our school and they are to be congratulated on their insightful, mature and passionate involvement in the Convention. Well done!
