Our Girls and Boys Tennis teams headed to the Bellarine Division Hot Shots Tournament held at Geelong Lawn Tennis Club last week. Both teams played some fantastic tennis and there was noticeable improvement from many of our players. In what was a memorable day, both of our teams ended up being crowned winners.
Our Girls were expertly lead by Hollie (Yr 5) and Leisel (Yr 6), who brought together a number of less experienced players in Alice, Ashlea, Scarlett and Lily (Yr 6) and Zahra and Maya (Yr 5). Tess (Yr 6) was injured, but came along to support the team. The girls improved in every single match and despite losing their final match, were rewarded for their consistency by finishing in first place.
The Drysdale Boys team had a large contingent of local tennis players, which meant we headed into the tournament with high hopes. The Drysdale Tennis Club provided 8 of our players in Alex, Caleb, Keanu, Curtis, Luke, Callum, Jack (Yr 6) and Harry (Yr 5), while Noah (Yr 5) was our sole representative from the Clifton Springs Tennis Club. The Boys were very consistent all day and managed to hold onto a lead that they established early in the day.
Both teams have now qualified for the Regional tournament later this term.
