The children’s mid-year reports will be published tomorrow electronically using the parent portal. Just as the teachers love writing the reports, over the last couple of weeks the principal team have been reading and commenting on every child’s achievements. This is something that I look forward to because I never fail to be thrilled by the way the children progress. Learning is a different type of growing. It does not happen steadily at an even pace. Just as children have growth spurts when they shoot up by 5cm in three months and then stay the same height for the next couple of months, the children have learning spurts and then consolidate their learning for a couple of months. But when I look back to the start of the year picturing the children as they stepped into their new classrooms and then think of how they are now, I can see the distance they have travelled and how they have grown up.
Please take time to read your child’s reports and share the successes with them. In each section there is an indication of what the next step of learning will be. This is a joy of learning; it never stops. You can be very proud of your children and look forward to the second half of the year with confidence that this good journey will continue.
