Drysdale Primary School will be celebrating Multicultural Week as part of Harmony Week in the week beginning 19th March. There will be different activities throughout the week drawing attention to and celebrating cultural diversity. These activities will be also be reflected in classroom learning.
Monday – Kids Matter assembly with a focus on multiculturalism. We invite any parents/families/members of the community to make a short presentation at assembly enlightening students on any aspect of their culture. If you are interested please see Miss Blasco or Bu Henry.
Tuesday – Special lunch order. Choose your favourite cultural cuisine and enjoy celebrating different foods with your classmates.
Wednesday – Indonesian dance. Bu Henry has organised Indonesian dancers to come and run a class in the hall during lunchtime.
Thursday – Flags. Each class will create a large flag to decorate the walls of the hall – choose from 23 countries, preferably those represented within our families.
Friday – Cultural dress up day. Dress in traditional clothing to represent any culture. We will have a short assembly at the beginning of the day to conclude our week of celebrations and a parade. If families would like to, we welcome you to make a gold coin donation on this day to help us raise funds for the purchase of a flagpole and Aboriginal flag. Bu Henry will also run a tari saman dance workshop at lunchtime.
