Our House Sport program concluded yesterday with the Grand Final of the Cricket competition being played between McLeod and Davis.
McLeod batted on Friday and made an imposing total of 54 runs. The highlights were Luke and Lochie’s power hitting to post a 36 run partnership and Leisel and Sophie’s accurate bowling, taking three valuable wickets.
Davis then batted today with Georgia and Dakota putting together a 23 run partnership before McLeod raced back into contention with lots of wickets and tight bowling from Jai, Emilio, Ashlea and Ciarne.
It then came down to our Year 4s with Hayden and Oscar needing 16 runs to win off the last two overs. Thanks to some big sixes from Hayden, they managed to hit 19 off the first over. Despite Matthew picking up two wickets in the final over, Davis held on to win by six runs.
This saw Davis crowned House Cricket champions!
The standard of cricket that was played over the four weeks improved drastically and it was wonderful to see the Year 4s (and Year 3s during Year 6 camp) joining in the fun. Two particular highlights were Jamie’s miraculous one handed overhead catch and Archer’s impersonation of Nathan Lyon’s recent caught and bowled.
The Year 6 students are now looking forward to playing against the staff in games of Cricket, Netball, Basketball and Dodgeball to finish off the year.
