October is the month when we encourage families to get out and about by walking, riding or scooting to school. Ideally this would be for the whole journey to school, but for families who live a little further away or normally drop children at school on their way to work, it is an option to stop a little distance away from school and walk the last part. Having an active start to the day is a wonderful way to get fit for summer. Children who ride or scoot to school need to follow both the road laws, e.g. by wearing a helmet, and make sure that we keep the school a safe place by wheeling their bike or scooter once they come inside the school grounds. Children also need to make sure that their bikes or scooters are locked up.
