There has been a lot of change at Drysdale Primary in the last couple of weeks.
Phase 1 is complete and the Year 6 children have moved into their new Senior Learning Space at the front of the school. Once we had the go ahead to move in, the children and staff set to and managed to move all the furniture and resources in a single afternoon. By the following morning all the Year 6 classes were fully operational in their new space looking as if they had always been there. That is an awesome effort with just a couple of hours of lost learning.
As soon as the Year 6s moved out, the demolition crew arrived to disconnect the portables which have now been taken off site to a new home in Melton. This super fast turn round was necessary to give us every chance of completing the new Prep block which will replace these portables in time for the start of the new school year in 2018.
There has been some disruption to parking in Stonehouse Place today and yesterday morning to accommodate the removal trucks. I would like to apologise to parents who normally park in this area. This was unavoidable.
I would like to thank our Builders BDH Constructions and our Architect, Leigh Dicker of the Bradley Dicker Group who have worked tirelessly to have the Year 6 space ready by the deadline and then dismantle the portables ready for the removers. The extension presented a lot of technical issues that had to be solved. The result is a space that has fitted perfectly onto the existing building. I would also like to thank the Year 6 students and teachers for managing the mid year move in a very short period of time. And the unsung heroes of the whole building project have been Year 3 and especially 3B who have been working next door to the construction zone. They are now looking forward to a few months of quieter work.
