Please be advised that after school care will be relocated next week for EVERY DAY EXCEPT FRIDAY due to school concert. We will be located in THE NEW GRADE 6 AREA (where the library used to be/where the first lot of building works were located/next to 3B). Children will meet with educators on the ramp leading up to the hall. Weather permitting we will spend some time on the playground equipment, before having snack in the Quiet Area, and then moving inside. THIS RELOCATION DOES NOT IMPACT BEFORE SCHOOL CARE, which will be in the normal location off the hall. We apologise for any inconvenience.
It has been another action packed week at OSHC this past week, with lots of discussion and excitement about the finals football, both locally and at the AFL level. On Thursday the number one topic of conversation was the Petrol Station fire. The children talked about what they’d seen and heard overnight and in the morning on the way to school. This conversation was guided by educators, and turned into a learning experience about fire safety and our own fire evacuation procedure. Other popular activities included dancing, running races, fruit salad, connect 4, monopoly, solving mazes and twister.
We have started our fund-raising activities for the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, with our ongoing footy tipping competition, as well as a guess how many marbles there in in the jar competition (10 cents an entry), a guess how many perler beads there in in the jar competition (10 cents an entry) and a guess how many loom bands there in in the jar competition (10 cents an entry), and a colouring in competition (20 cents an entry.) These competitions will run through to the 17th of September, with Camp Australia’s charity branch, The Camp Australia Foundation, dollar matching our fundraising efforts.
Could all parents check their account details. There are some children no longer in prep who are still marked as being preps on their account. While the usual staff members at the service know who the actual prep students are, and there is a prep list on display, if for some reason another staff member is filling in for Lisa it might cause confusion. Also, if your child has two accounts, for example, in the case of separated families, could parents please change the way their child’s name is shown through their account to help differentiate between accounts For example, John Smith (Mum), or John Smith M and John Smith D.
Also could parents check that EVERY person they want to pick up their child from the service is listed on the account. We are legally not allowed to release children into the care of people that are not on their enrolment forms as approved pick up people. This is for the protection of the children. Your assistance in these matters is much appreciated.
With less than three full weeks of school remaining for this term the school holidays are fast approaching. Bookings are now open for Camp Australia’s School holiday Programs. The closest Camp Australia services offering a school holiday program to Drysdale Primary School are Ocean Grove Primary School, Geelong East Primary School and Fyans Park Primary School. Bookings can be made via www.campaustralia.com.au/holidayfun
A friendly reminder for parents that for staffing and catering purposes children should be booked into OSHC through the Camp Australia head office, or if it is impractical to do so, through a staff member at OSHC. Where possible bookings and cancellations should be made through the Camp Australia Head Office website or phone number, which is 1300 105 343. This is to ensure that we have adequate numbers of staff present to care for your children, and that we have prepared enough food to go around at snack time.
In related news, could parents be sure to notify OSHC directly, or the Camp Australia head office, if your child will not be attending a session they are booked in for.. This helps streamline the session for everyone else as we are not spending time trying to track down children who are not actually coming. This includes days when your child is absent from school for whatever reason. The Camp Australia Drysdale Primary School OSHC mobile number is 0404 427 452.
