Principal’s Update

Remembrance Day Ceremony

On Monday, we held our first Remembrance Day Ceremony at school for all the students. We were very lucky to have Bruce and Chris, Vietnam Veterans visit for the morning as well. Bruce and Chris spoke to the Senior students about their experiences in the Army and briefly Vietnam. They also spoke about the importance of Remembrance Day and the need to recognise the service of those who have fought for Australia.

We also were privileged to be invited along to the RSL Remembrance Ceremony. Our school captains went along with Ms Martin to represent the school and read a poem of respect.

Parking, Traffic and Students

Please be aware when parking around the school drop off and pick up points of student foot traffic. Students often don’t have great awareness when moving amongst traffic and can occasionally do unexpected things, we have had reports of near misses recently. Please make sure you are moving at walking pace and obeying traffic rules and parking rules. Both the Police and Parking Inspectors regularly patrol our area and will act if necessary.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

On Monday, the School Captains headed down to the Drysdale RSL to participate in the Remembrance Day Ceremony. It was a fantastic opportunity to speak with members of the local community and build their understanding of the importance of the day. It was incredible to watch them read a poem as part of the ceremony and lay a wreath on behalf of the school.

All students in our school also attended a short ceremony in the school hall to pay our respects on this day.

Friendship Hands and Class Placement 2025

Friendship Hands and Class Placement 2025

Later this week teachers will be sending home a small friendship hand for each child in Prep to Year 5 to complete, by recording 5 friends that they think would be a good fit in their class next year. We will be continuing with composite classes, so students are able to write the names of friends from the linked year level for 2025 classes for Year 1-2, Year 3-4 and Year 5-6.  The teachers will be starting to complete their online surveys that support class development for 2025. We have a few weeks to be working on all of this and continuing with our school transition sessions through November to see how students interact and work with each other, to ensure we have classes that are balanced and will have success for everyone in 2025.

If you have any questions about transition or 2025 classes, please reach out to Glen or Kate to discuss. Please return Friendship Hands to your child’s class teacher by Friday, 15 November.

Picnic Place

The students have been enjoying the beautiful weather this term out at the new Picnic Place. This is a new area in our school yard where students can eat their recess and lunch amongst friends either at our new picnic tables or on the picnic rugs that are placed there. It has been fantastic to see students across all grades enjoying the time to connect and enjoy each other’s company while having a snack. Thank you to the Men’s Shed for the beautiful new sign for the area!

Parents And Friends Group

Bunnings BBQ

Parents and friends would like to send a huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped at the recent Bunnings BBQ, without you the day would not have been a success. We raised a total of $1,881.53, with funds going towards new seating in the Hall.

Mini Mudder – Friday 22nd November

We are excited to host our own Mini Mudder obstacle course!  This event was last held in 2022, where the students had the best time crawling through the mud, climbing over hay bales or weaving their way through the spider web, all whilst having fun!  There will be varying degrees of obstacles set around the oval, bring your old clothes and enjoy the challenge.  Parents and carers – we will need your help on the day either setting up, packing up or on an obstacle station.  Volunteers will require a Working with Children’s check. Donations of $10 per student are requested to cover the cost of the event, however any donation size is welcomed.  Activity permission slip to come this week.
