Drysdale Primary School

Thank You

Hello to our Drysdale Primary School community. Thank you for making me feel so very welcomed in my first week. It has been great getting to know everyone and I have been impressed by the dedication of both the students and the staff to make Drysdale the best it can be.

To the many parents and carers with whom I have I’ve spoken with in the yard and to those who have popped into the office to say hello, thank you very much. I look forward to meeting many more of you across the term.

Coming to a new school can be daunting, however the DPS community have welcomed me with open arms and for this I will be forever grateful.

School Photos Wednesday 3rd May

Annual school photos will be taken by Arthur Reed Photos this Wednesday 3rd May 2023.

There is no need to return any forms or money to school.

Unique image codes will be issued to all students on/after photo day so families can register online to view images when they become available in the webshop.

Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.

Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do it again this year using your child’s 2023 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details.

When images are ready to view and in the webshop, all parents who have registered will be notified by SMS and email.

Once registered, please wait for notification that 2023 images are online to view before making your purchase.

ANZAC Day

On ANZAC Day I had the privilege of attending the Drysdale RSL ANZAC Day ceremony to pay our respects to those that served in World War 1 and those that have served since.

Our School Captain’s Tom, Lily, Will and Ruby read a poem as part of the official service and laid a wreath of behalf of the school. They did an amazing job and represented the school very well.

Curriculum Day Monday 24th April

On the first day back for Term 2 all staff took part in a Literacy professional development day with Stephen Graham. He was able to take staff through what a good writing lesson looks like and the process for teaching how to write in different genres.

Stephen also touched on spelling and how to use the students writing to improve their spelling. I look forward to seeing how the teachers implement his suggestions over the remainder of the term.

House Cross Country

Our annual House Cross Country competition was such a positive way to end Term 1. Held again down at the Drysdale Reserve, we were blessed with beautiful weather and a large crowd of families supporting the runners. Our students displayed so many of our school values in their 2km or 3km runs.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers; Alicia, Carissa, Tara, Jen, Caroline, Emma, Samara, Fiona, Angus, Carlie and Kevin who gave up their morning to take up a marshalling point around the course. We even had some former students; Ziva, Lucy, Harper and Alannah who happily helped out as well. Without their valuable assistance, we wouldn’t have been able to safely hold the event.

Students aged 9 and above who placed in the top 8 have now qualified for the Division Cross County at Eastern Gardens on Tuesday 30th April.

The final House placings were:
1st Davis (206)
2nd McLeod (201)
3rd Dan Dan Nook (196)
4th Bengalat (187)
