Parent/Carer Volunteers

Each year we have families asking how they can help our school and our students. There are many ways you can help – through the Parents and Friends Group included. If you are keen to volunteer in classes or around the school such as in the Garden or Library we would love your help.

I will be holding a Volunteers Training Session on Thursday March 23rd at 3pm til 3:30pm or Monday March 27th at 9:30am – 10am for any parents or carers that would like to help in school this year.

If you have completed the Training Session in previous years, you will just need to meet with me for the OH&S Induction process and to ensure we have an up to date WWCC card on file. You can contact me via email – ap.support@drysdaleps.vic.edu.au or call the office to arrange a time. This induction will nly take about 10 minutes.

Once the training and OH&S induction are complete this term, you will be able to contact teachers or staff about helping in classes or other areas of our school.

Picture Plates

Picture Plate templates will be distributed during the last week of term for families to complete during the school holidays. Picture plates are a great keepsake in which your child’s drawing (or your photos) are made into your very own melamine dinner plate, something to keep forever.

As something extra special, the Year 6 kids will be provided with the opportunity to create a mug or a plate (or both).

The completed templates are to be returned to your child’s classroom teacher during the first few days of Term 2 (remembering to include your child’s full name and class on the template).

The plates take around 6-8 weeks to be created and will be returned to your child towards the end of Term 2. Payment for the plates will be via an online payment system with details to be provided soon.

TheirCare News

This week at OSHC we are doing all things sport and movement to promote being active and healthy.  Although it feels as though the school year has only just begun, bookings are now open for the Autumn School Holiday Program at Drysdale Primary School.  To view the program and to make bookings please go to http://www.theircare.com.au/holiday-programs.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to make bookings as far in advance as possible to assist with catering and staffing. If parents could also make sure that they make cancellations in advance as well it would be greatly appreciated, especially if they know they will not be contactable on the day. If your child is booked in, but doesn’t arrive, and we confirm with our listed contacts that the child is not safe within a certain period of time, then our policy dictates that we must call the police and report the child missing.

The Great Annual OSHC Easter Egg Colouring Competition has become a bit of a tradition at OSHC over the years. Entries for this year’s competition opened on the 20th of March and close on the 4th
of April. As usual, we will have two separate competitions, one for the Preps and Junior children, and then another for the Middle and Senior children. There are amazing prizes to be won. We’re looking
forward to seeing all of the amazing designs the children produce.
