Athletics Day

Thank you to everyone who came along yesterday to support the children during our school athletics day. It was wonderful to see the school community coming together to enjoy the sports.

With the day happening onsite, we were able to include all the children from Prep through to Year 6. I witnessed lots of great examples of good sporting behaviour with children encouraging each other, stopping to check on friends, and looking after each other.

It was very special to have the event official opened by The Queen who was looking very spritely after her long trip from Buckingham Palace.

I would like to thank Mitch Sinnott for organising the day, Adam Shawcross and his team for preparing the oval and repairing the long jump pit, the staff and volunteers for supervising each event, timing and record keeping.

Most of all I would like to thank the students for giving their best efforts and having fun.

Please see read more for some photos, there will be more in the next Link

Respectful Relationships And SWPBS

Respectful Relationships is an initiative from DET to support schools and early childhood education settings promote and model respect and equality. It also supports our staff in teaching our students how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence. Throughout 2022 our students have been learning more about respectful relationships in line with our Personal Learning curriculum.

Each term classes focus on 2 areas of the RR curriculum, led by their teachers to investigate, discuss and build their understanding of themselves and those around them. The sessions link very strongly to our school values and further enhance our work in improving the social and emotional development of all of our students.

This term each year level is focused on the area of HELP SEEKING. Learning activities in this topic area are designed to help students discuss the importance of seeking help and providing peer support when dealing with problems that are too big to solve alone. This helps to normalise and destigmatise help-seeking behaviour. Scenario-based activities help students identify situations in which help should be sought, identify trusted sources of help, and practice seeking help from peers and adults.

Stay tuned at our Kids Matter assemblies, as well as the Link, this term to learn more about what students have been doing in Personal Learning this term.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club began for DPS on August 20, 2021. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up soon! We know this has been a great addition to our school, serving close to half the school students each Monday and Friday morning. It has been great to see students coming to school ready to learn and ensuring they have had some food to kick start their day.

Each morning we make over 130 cheese toasties and another 40 or more vegemite or jam toasties, so we are super busy and we like it! Feed Me Bellarine have been great at supplying us with seasonal fruit and sometimes yoghurts as well, for those that just need a little snack.

We just want to say a huge thank you to the families that have so kindly donated items for Breakfast Club over the past couple of weeks. It is so wonderful to have your support and we can’t thank you enough for all the vegemite, jam, margarine and paper bags you have dropped off to Breakfast Club or the school office. It goes a long way to keeping our program running.

Donations are welcome any time, so if you would like to support us we are always in need of strawberry jam, paper bags and margarine. Our vegemite supply is strong so we do not need any at this time.

Thank you again, Kate, Kendra and Kylie.
