The AP WrAP

What an amazing fortnight! Between Mini Mudder, Lightning Prem, Cross Country, Junior Railway Excursion, Happy Being Me Incursion, AFL Clinics, Harmony Week and the Working Bee it has been a massive time for DPS and we can’t thank all of the people who make these things happen enough!

We have some news from the Wellbeing and Inclusion Office!

There is now an email that will allow families who require Wellbeing or Inclusion support to contact us (Kate and Nic) directly. This email will be monitored during the agreed communication times of 8:30am- 5:00pm. The email address is : ap.support@drysdaleps.vic.edu.au . If your child has Allied Health Support, please feel free to share this email address to support the booking of visits to school if applicable.

We have seen some fabulous learning across the school with the Middle students learning to revise and edit their writing while Senior students have worked hard on creating and publishing their written work! Our Junior students have been ordering and comparing different shapes based on length, volume and capacity while Preps have worked hard on creating some amazing Harmony Balloons for Harmony Week, amongst lots of other learning!

Mini Mudder

Wow, what a great day! A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and made the day so successful! We raised $2,785 for the outdoor stage, a terrific result.

There was plenty of muddy smiles at the end of the day and lots of tired students from crawling, climbing and weaving through the course. A big shout out of thanks to Nicole Alonso, Tash Irvine as MC, all the teachers, the Parents and Friends Group and our wonderful volunteers on the day: Alycia, Caiti, Carissa, Alan, John, Jac, Steph, Julie, Lisa, Ali, Caroline, Clancey, Danielle, Emma, Eva, Fiona, Grainne, Jess, Kate, Kathy, Patty, Rachel, Rhiannon, Samantha and Sandra.

Without your help this event wouldn’t have been possible, a MASSIVE thank you!

Working Bee – Thank you

A BIG THANK YOU to those who helped out with the Working Bee last Saturday. It was a beautiful sunny morning and it was lovely to see a few families out and helping to clean up our school grounds.

A Huge Thanks to the:
Martin/Sharples family and Xavier and Felix

Richardson family and Harper and Paddy
Wilson family and Elijah, Gilbert and Franklin

Robb family and Sam
Colliver family and Max and Will

Rohan Hinkley
Alistair and Danielle Mckenzie

Sean Murray
Tom Hoyne

Kylie King and Lizzie Elliot.

We all made a very good start to pruning trees, spreading mulch, weeding, sweeping and generally cleaning up the school after not having working bees for the past 12 months.
Thanks for all your amazing work, your help was greatly appreciated.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club has been a hit again this term. Seeing so many smiling faces coming in on a Monday or Friday has been an absolute pleasure. Thank you to so many of our Teaching and Education Support staff for volunteering their time in the mornings to help greet, cook and serve up our toast and toasties. Breakfast Club will be back again next term on Monday’s and Friday’s.

If you are wanting to support the Club, we are in need of brown paper bags, strawberry jam or vegemite. Serving close to 150 students each morning means we use quite a few bags and jars of condiments each week, so if you would like to help out you can donate a pack of bags, jam or vegemite.

Please leave donations in the tub at the front office. Any donations are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support this term.

Organic Bin Liners Donations Needed

Organic Bins and Composting
This year we have a new bin system within each classroom.
As part of this we have organic food scrap bins, which we are using to reduce food waste and to start our own composting system to help in our school garden. However we need some donations to continue to running this program effectively. We can only use 100% compostable bags in this process.

The correct bags we need can be purchased at Woolworths and can often be found on sale at various times. They must be the large 36L bag and must be 100% compostable. Please see the photos attached and when you are next shopping in your local supermarket, if you could get a packet and get your child to give it to their teacher it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all your support and Happy Sustainability.

Please click on please see more for photos of the bin lines

Wonder Bread Bag Recycling Program

At Drysdale Primary School, we have registered to be part of this exciting program and are asking that over the holidays you begin to collect any bread bags that you use at home.

They can then be brought to school next term to be recycled and we can hopefully win some amazing prizes for our school while also looking after the environment.

Stay tuned for more information next term, but start collecting NOW!!!
