Drysdale Primary School

Happy Christmas

As this is the last Link for 2021, I would like to wish all members of the school community a very happy Christmas. It has undoubtedly been another very challenging year.

As a school we could not have managed without the amazing support of the parent community. Along with the staff we have worked together to keep our children safe and do as much as we can to advance both their learning and their well-being.

I hope that everyone enjoys some time over the summer break to take advantage of the many local activities available on the Bellarine.

BPay Payments – Important Changes

In 2022, as per directive from The Department of Education and Training, there will be major changes to the collection of payments from parents/carers.

The AP WrAP

After what was another challenging year, we can’t thank our school community enough for the support and dedication you have given to our school! We have achieved so much as a whole community throughout 2021 and it was a fitting way to end the year last Friday night with our school community coming together for our End of Year Concert.

Mr Stephens and all the students did such an amazing job pulling together some singing and dancing. There were also some wonderful outfits so we thank you for supporting our students in participating! The rock bands, supported by Tim from Sonic Boom, were a great way to finish the night!

Breakfast Club was a great addition to our school this year and a big success. Staff volunteered their time on Monday and Friday mornings to welcome students to school with a smile, a toasted cheese sandwich and some fruit or yoghurt. We are very grateful to local businesses for their support over the second half of the year and look forward to bringing Breakfast Club back early in 2022. We will let families and students know when the start date will be when school returns. We also hope to have volunteers back onsite and Breakfast Club will be one way parents or carers may like to support our school, so stay tuned for more details next year.

Please note Breakfast Club will NOT be open this Friday 17th December.

Last week we had our whole school transition. It was great to see students and staff eager to meet each other and get to know their 2022 classes for next year. Kinder students that are starting Prep next year also came for the day and enjoyed meeting their Year 5/6 buddies and going for a big tour of the school. We look forward to getting stuck into the learning with the new classes in 2022.

A lot of work has been completed this year around consistent curriculum documents and we could not have done this without the support of our amazing staff! Some of who are moving on in 2022 and we wish them all the best.

Have a safe and happy break and we can’t wait to see you in 2022 for what I am sure will be a year that brings new opportunities and possibly some challenges but together as a school community we have proven we can make it through.

Merry Christmas!

Nic and Kate

Year 6 End of Year Arrangements

The Year 6s are very excited about the final couple of weeks of their time at Drysdale Primary School. We have a number of events organised to help them celebrate.

At all school events all adults attending must show evidence of double vaccination status or an approved medical exemption.

Graduation night is being held on Tuesday 14th December from 5:30 – 6:30pm in the school hall. This event will see the Year 6 awards being announced and presented.

There is an informal gathering following this event at the Clifton Springs Golf Club that is being organised by some Year 6 parents. The venue has wood oven pizzas that families can order via the app, or you are welcome to order from the general menu. As this is not a school event, parents will be responsible for supervision of their own children. Note – all children 12 yrs and 2mths must be double vaccinated to enter the premises. This is not a school organised event.

The final assembly is being held on Thursday 16th December at 1:50pm. The Year 6s will be farewelled by the school at this event and double vaccinated parents are welcome to attend.

The final day of school Friday 17th December for Year 6 is a celebration that we are calling a Day on the Green. This will see students coming in casual dress to allow them to get the Year 6 shirts signed by the students and staff (BYO texta). The Parent & Friends Group are supplying a BBQ lunch and can of drink to help them all celebrate. We are also organising an inflatable waterslide for the students to enjoy. This will mean they will need to bring a SunSmart clothing option that they can get wet in, a towel, a hat and sunscreen.

Student Medication

On the last day of term, we will be sending home all asthma ventolin and spacers with students. Please ensure over the holidays they are cleaned and the expiry dates checked.

Please ensure they are returned on the first day of school 2022.

If their Asthma Plan is due for a review by your doctor we will need to receive a copy of this on the first day of school in 2022.

We ask families of students with an EpiPen to contact the school to arrange collection.

Please advise the school if your child will be away on Friday via email so other arrangements can be made drysdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au
