Welcome back to Term 4! I hope that you have had a break from the challenges of remote learning over the holidays and are ready for an exciting Term 4!
We are working hard to make sure as many as we can manage of our usual Term 4 events run. Some may look a little different to how they have operated in the past, but we are all having to find creative ways of responding to these unusual times.

We are looking forward to Tuesday, 26th October as the date when we will have all our students back onsite together for the first time in a long while. Between now and then there are arrangements for different year groups as set out in my letter over the holidays.
From next week Preps, Year 1 and Year 2 continue onsite every day.
Year 3 and Year 4 will be in school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I will have an update for Years 3 and 4 about Geelong Cup Day (Wednesday 20th) before the end of the week.
Year 5 and Year 6 will attend on Thursdays and Fridays.
With summer approaching we will be able to make greater use of outdoor spaces for teaching and increase the ventilation in classrooms. Both of these are important parts of the Education Department strategy for a safe return to school. All school staff are authorised workers and required to meet the state’s vaccination requirements.

With a date set for a return to onsite learning we are clearly coming towards the end of this phase of the pandemic. Our children have maintained a good standard of learning with very few falling significantly behind. This is amazing considering the huge challenges everyone has faced.
There are three groups involved: the children, the staff and the school’s families. Unless all three parts are working together, it is almost impossible to achieve anything worthwhile.
I am so immensely proud and privileged to be part of a community that has looked out for each other and demonstrated the deepest commitment so that our children have still been able to be the best they can be. Thank you.

Our camps program is a very important part of Drysdale students’ experience. Parents of children in Years 4 and 5 whose camps were scheduled for next week will have received important information today in a separate letter via Sentral parent portal/app.
I have been negotiating with the camp providers over the holiday break about arrangements. We will follow a similar process for the Year 3 and Year 6 camp scheduled for later in term. These discussions are based on current government advice to schools.

The first market of the new season is happening on Sunday, 17th of October.
As part of our COVID plan agreed with the City of Greater Geelong we are required to clean the public toilets at the reserve before the market starts. I would like to reach out to members of our community who operate cleaning businesses for a quote for your company to take on this task on the third Sunday of each month from October 2021 to May 2022.
If you are interested, please contact me at school or by email philip.dunlop-moore@education.vic.gov.au .

Bogan Bingo is back! After the success of Bogan Bingo in 2019 the PFG have decided to have another night of good laughs and great games on Saturday 6th November at 7pm.
Bogan Bingo is part game and part party with 80s tunes rocking and plenty of prizes to be won. So get your mullet on, find your flanno, grab your air guitar and get your mates together to raise money for our school (we have nearly raised enough for the new outdoor stage).
Bookings can be made using the link below (tables up to 10). Bogan Bingo will be held in the Senior Learning Space unless COVID rules change.

We have been lucky enough to be re-allocated a spot at Bunnings Leopold to run the sausage sizzle!!!
This is on Saturday, October 16th between 8:30am-4:00pm.
We are asking for family volunteers please. Please contact Nicole Alonso via the school email if you can help drysdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
Partners welcome. Children under 18 are not permitted as per Bunnings protocols.
It is a great opportunity to raise funds for our school!
