Drysdale Primary School

Welcome Back

Welcome back to term 2. I hope everyone in the community had time over the Easter break to catch up with family and friends. We are looking forward to a great term working with our students. There is a lot already planned for this term including a Book Fair, NAPLAN, and various excursions.

We would like to welcome Mr Keogh to Drysdale Primary. Mr Keogh is taking over the technology specialist role for the remainder of the year.

ANZAC Commemoration

ANZAC Day falls on this coming Sunday. The Drysdale RSL have opted for a smaller COVID safe commemoration this year that will focus around the cenotaph. As a school we will be holding our commemoration in a special assembly on Monday morning led by our School Captains.

Until the Education Department relax remaining COVID restrictions, assemblies here remain limited to school students and staff only. Please note that as ANZAC Day is on Sunday there is no public holiday. So school will be operating as normal on Monday.

The presenter for our pupil free day that was planned for April 23rd has let us know that he is no longer available on this day. The pupil free day has been rescheduled for Wednesday June 2nd when he is available.

Drysdale Market

Our monthly market happened last Sunday. We were again sold out in terms of the number of stalls booked as we are already for the May market. Despite the huge challenges to the market organization resulting from the effects of the pandemic, it has been our most successful market season for a very long time.

I would like to thank the market team led by Jac Absolom and our wonderful parent volunteers, Julie Penfold, Kevin McCoughtry and Rachel Scott for making the market happen each month.

Camp Information

Information about our camp programs for children in years 3, 4 and 5 was sent home at the end of last term. They were also emailed and are on the parent portal under the resources tab. Please read this carefully and take note of the deadlines.

Please note that these deadlines will be enforced because of the cancellation policies of the camp providers. We cannot include children in the camp group who have not returned both the permission form and paid the deposit by the due date. Families who wish to discuss alternative payment options should contact the school office as soon as possible.

Slime Spectacular

The slime has now dried and hopefully, the colour has been washed out.

Would like to thank all of the people who came together to make the Slime Spectacular such a successful and memorable event.

We have received so many positive comments about how special it was to once again come together as a community and enjoy such a unique event.

Things like this do not happen by themselves and there was a lot of work done behind the scenes to organise and coordinate the day to ensure it ran so smoothly. There was also a lot of work done on the day by a very large group of people who contributed so much to the event’s success. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to allow this to occur.

There was a fundraising element to the day and we are very pleased to report that this was also extremely successful. Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community we were able to smash our fundraising target of $10,000. We will be able to announce a final figure in the coming weeks.

The children’s prizes should arrive this week and once they arrive we will be handing these out to students.
