Classes 2021

Students have had an exciting day today, learning who their class teacher will be for 2021! Children will be bringing home a letter this afternoon that includes details of their class for next year. We have spent a long time working through combinations and student friendship preferences. All the teachers and staff at DPS are fully committed to offering the best education possible to our wonderful children.

We are confident that we have found a good fit for all of our students who will have spent some time this morning with their new teacher as part of our annual transition program.

Family Statements

Please can I encourage all parents to check their family statement for the year. It has been a tricky year with so many enforced changes to activities, often at the last minute. Please make sure that all outstanding money has been paid before the end of term.

Statements were sent home to all families recently. If you would like an up-to-date copy please call or email (drysdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au) our Administration Team who are more than happy to assist.

Any parents planning to attend should call or email the school today to assist us in ensuring COVID distancing measures are in place with the number of people attending. The WrAP

Just over a week to go until the end of year. It sure is creeping up fast! Today was ‘Shuffle Day’ and allowed students the chance to transition into their new classes and meet their teachers for 2021. It was great to see the excitement around the school, although there were also some nerves. Overall it was a very successful day and we can’t wait to begin the new year with everyone!

SWPBS tokens continue to be ‘cashed in’ and students are enjoying the myriad of rewards for their efforts this year. Many Prep and Year 2 students have been sharing some of their favourite jokes on the P.A during lunch eating time and making us all laugh! Other students have been ‘cashing in’ to watch a movie or to teach their class.

Sara from Prep enjoyed teaching her class, where she had them complete an All About Me poster. She even made sure to hand out tokens like her teacher usually does for Enjoyment, Success and Integrity.

5T have been working on a project where they are all heading to the Gold Coast for a holiday! They have been budgeting and planning some amazing experiences! It would certainly be nice to head off to some warmer weather right now!

We thank you all for the support you have given this year to your child/ren. It has not been an easy year but we are very appreciative of the effort everyone has put in to make it a successful year.

Drysdale Community Market – This Sunday 20th December

Don’t forget if you need those last minute Christmas presents the next school market will be on Sunday, December 20th. Following the success of the last market we have permission to increase the number of stalls to 100. A part of the approved COVID Safe Plan is that we have volunteers on site throughout the market’s opening times, 9 am to 1 pm.

This is also true for the market in January on Sunday the 17th. If you are able to offer voluntary support for either or both markets, please let me know by email philip.dunlop-moore@education.vic.gov.au with an indication of the times that you are available.

Year 6 Treetops Excursion

The Year 6 Excursion to the Treetops Adventure Park was a tremendous opportunity to enjoy a positive and unique experience in what was been a very different year. It was so lovely to see our students being able to join in an activity altogether and the smiles on their faces and screams of joy from the treetops were a delight. We were so impressed with their ability to overcome any fears to be swinging, climbing and jumping from trees that were up to 15m high. We must also thank our wonderful parent volunteers, Melita, Dean and Kevin. It was so nice to have parents back and involved with our kids again (although, they might not have realised quite what they were signing up for!). Click read more to view some photos from the day.

Year 6 Concert

This week saw the filming of the 2020 Year 6 Concert, ‘A Covid Affair’, a completely student-driven production that centred around a 30-minute current affairs programme complete with advertisements and infomercials. Mr Stephens has worked tirelessly with the Year 6s to write, workshop, rehearse and then perform the entire production in less than a term. The final product is a fascinating insight into how 2020 was seen through the eyes of our Year 6 students.

The video is entering its final editing stages and the advanced screenings have received rave reviews. Stay tuned for more information about when it is available to everyone.

“I felt nervous and it was quite hard but overall the Year 6 concert was an amazing experience. Being able to write our own script and design our skits was a unique opportunity. The concert has helped Year 6 be amazing despite all the challenges 2020 has given us.  Vianne 6F

“Year 6 Concert was difficult because I had to step out of my comfort zone, but overall I had a really good time and I can’t wait to see it.” – Mae 6D

Year 6 Graduation

Friday rounded out a very busy week for Year as they enjoyed their Graduation Day. Students dressed up for the occasion and were filmed receiving their graduation certificates. This footage will be used in a Graduation Video that is currently being put together by the Year 6 team and will be published next Wednesday at 6:00pm.

The graduates also enjoyed a generous ‘Very Special Lunch Order’ from Kylie in the Canteen and participated in a House Connect Four tournament and a House Trivia competition. We must also thank Alison from Bellarine Party Supplies for the wonderful balloon decorations and the Parent Fundraising Group for the Graduation wristbands.
