City of Greater Geelong Mural Project

On Friday we were joined by Councillors Trent Sullivan and Jim Mason from the City of Greater Geelong for the official opening of our School and House murals.  Our House Captains were presented with plaques that describe how each house is connected to our local community of Drysdale.  The plaques will be placed on the wall next to the murals.  I am grateful to our School Council, Shane Kennedy and Raelene Newton along with the support of the City of Greater Geelong and our talented students for the creation of these wonderful murals. I hope everyone enjoys them for many years to come.

Christmas Movie Night

As December has now arrived we are looking forward to a number of events to celebrate a very successful year at Drysdale Primary School.  Our Parents Fundraising Group have organised a Carols and Movie night on Friday, 13th December. The children will be getting the evening into the Christmas spirit by singing some Christmas carols, then we are expecting a visit from Santa and later in the evening we will be showing the movie Elf. We are looking forward to all the festivities and celebrating with all our students and their families on the night.

Stonehouse Place

The school has recently been informed that a number of parents are driving along Stonehouse Road in the wrong direction during morning and afternoon drop off/pick up. Stonehouse Place is a one way road which runs from St James Church, past the school hall and leads out to Bennet Street. The school is not responsible for the enforcement of the one way direction but I am sure you can understand that this is not acceptable and it is extremely dangerous. However, I am hoping that common sense and concern for children’s safety will prevail and ensure that all vehicles drive in the correct direction from now on.

Vandalism

Sadly over the weekend the school was affected by a vast amount of vandalism, to witness such destruction of school property is extremely disappointing.  The damage has been repaired and the graffiti removed thanks to Alan Climpson, who looks after maintenance of our school.  We are working closely with Bellarine Police to identify those responsible for the vandalism and charge them accordingly.

Generally we are happy for the community to come onto the school site and enjoy our facilities. To those in the community who take care of our school property I am grateful for the respect that is shown. Could we please ask that if anyone is on site and sees others causing damage to please contact the police immediately.

High Voltage Rock School Concert

High Voltage Rock School participants will be holding their final live music concert for the year, in the school hall at lunchtime on Tuesday, 17th December (1:00 -1:50pm)

This will be a fantastic opportunity for individual students and bands to showcase their new skills to their parents, teachers and friends.  It’s a great opportunity for parents to celebrate their progress as individuals and as musicians.

All are welcome to attend.
