Drysdale Community Market

The monthly Drysdale Community Market took place on Sunday at the Drysdale Reserve.  Jacalyn Absolom has taken on responsibilities for coordinating the monthly market.  I, along with our entire community am very grateful to her for making this commitment.

The market is a significant community event as well as one of the school’s major fundraisers.

Pupil Free Day – Monday 25th November

Please note that the fourth and final pupil free day for 2019 is being held on Monday 25th November.  This means that the school is closed and students are not required at school. This pupil free day allows staff professional learning to take place.  We will be splitting our time between sessions deepening our understanding of Jolly Phonics, reviewing our 2019 NAPLAN outcomes and evaluating the effectiveness of our spelling program.

Year 6 Camp

This week the Year 6 students are in Canberra exploring our nation’s capital.  It is an amazing experience for the children which is made possible by the staff and volunteers who travel with them.  I am very grateful to those involved for their dedication and commitment.

In the absence of the Year 6 children we had four of the Year 5s taking the role of School Captains in assembly yesterday. Well done Mae, Guy, Brydie and Will. They all did a fantastic job.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for individual students and bands to showcase their new skills to their parents, teachers and friends.  It’s a great opportunity for parents to celebrate their progress as individuals and as musicians.

Congratulations to the girls who placed 6th and the boys who placed 3rd. Thanks to Mr Burnie and Mr Martino for their coaching and training with the teams.

Lost Property

Some important reminders to all parents regarding lost property;

  • Please label all clothing that comes to school! If items came labelled to school our mountain of lost property would be much more manageable. We often find brand new jumpers or pants that are in perfect condition, but with no name. Please label everything!
  • If your child doesn’t bring home an item of clothing, go to the lost property at the back of the hall and look for it
  • Any items that haven’t been claimed from lost property by Monday 16th December (last Monday of term) will be given to second hand uniform for sale

Also, please be advised that we currently have a couple of items of lost property that your child may be missing! We currently have a mobile phone and a fitbit which have been handed in, if you believe these belong to your child please send them to the Administration Office to describe the item and collect them.
