Drysdale Primary School

Early Arrival at School

There are a few children who are arriving at school very early.  The school provides supervision in the playground from 8:50am. To help families that need before school care we partner with Camp Australia. Camp Australia can be contacted on 1300 105 343 and bookings can be made.

Children can enter the school buildings to hang up their bags and do their morning jobs from 8:50am.  Once they have done this they should go back into the yard where there is teacher supervision.  Parents who urgently need to speak to their child’s teacher before 8:50am are welcome to go to their child’s classroom where the teachers are usually available whilst preparing for the day’s teaching.  Appointments to meet teachers can always be made through the school office or by making a request in your child’s diary.

Book Week is coming

Book Week is coming! On Monday 19th August we will be holding a dress up day and parade at Assembly. This year the theme is “Reading is My Secret Power”, however, dressing as any character from a favourite book is great. We hope this allows you sufficient time to organise a costume and generate a bit of excitement with your children! We can’t wait to see all the wonderful costumes!

Beads…beads everywhere, these words can summon up OSHC this past week, with the vast majority of children very enthusiastically working on perler bead creations. Despite this beading fixation we have been very pleasantly surprised that the children have kept most of the beads off the floor…yay.

Other popular activities from last week have included active group games, guessing games, dramatic play, making up games with the barrel of monkeys, helping pick out what to include in our next resource order and making designs with the marble run.

This week we have planned Uno competitions, chess games, more perler bead craft, beaded bracelets, active group games, some relaxing things for the children to do after their busy athletics day when they are tired, as well as providing the opportunity for the children to do some training for athletics day on the night before.

Next week we will be celebrating Science Week at OSHC. We have a special guest visitor coming in on the 12th to do some experiments with the children, as well as doing some of our own experiments on other days. There will be discussions with the children this week to see what they would like to do experiments about.

Parents are reminded that when they are collecting their child from the service it is a good idea if they carry photo identification, just in case for some reason there are replacement educators at the service that don’t already know you. This policy is in place to protect the children and ensure they are being collected by the right people.

OSHC at Drysdale Primary School operates out of the School hall,  We open at 7:00 each school day, and send the children off at 8:50, when the teachers are scheduled to commence their yard duty. Unfortunately we are unable to accept children into our care earlier than 7:00. At 3:30, once the school bell goes, children attending after school care walk over to the hall from their classrooms, with preps being picked up from their classrooms and we provide a safe place for them to play and engage with other children until they are collected.  Our closing time is 6:00. For more information on our service and fees, you may visit our website www.campaustralia.com.au. If you prefer to speak to us, you can contact our friendly Customer Care Team that is available to support our families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – except for National Public Holidays. Alternatively, you’re welcome to visit us in service and chat with our qualified Educators about the Camp Australia program at your child’s school.

A friendly reminder for parents that for staffing and catering purposes children should be booked into OSHC through the Camp Australia head office, and that should you need to cancel their booking please can this be done through head office as well.  This works out much cheaper for you, as there are additional fees involved if children do not attend sessions they are booked in for.  Bookings can be made or cancelled by logging into the Camp Australia website https://www.campaustralia.com.au or by ringing 1300 105 343. The team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except National Public Holidays).

We look forward to seeing you and your family soon! From the Team at Camp Australia.
