Landscaping News

During the recent holiday break we completed the first stage of our school landscaping with the construction of a second Ga-Ga pit, a shaded outdoor classroom area and, a bike track to support our Bike Ed Program.  All this has been positioned amongst the trees at the rear of the oval on the Clifton Springs Road side of the school.  Please take a moment to explore this area that will enhance the playtime options for the older students.

The School Council has been working on a landscaping master plan in partnership with the Parents Fundraising Group so that we can create an inter-connected outdoor environment that supports the children’s learning and creativity.  This has been a huge undertaking.  With the amazing support of the Parents Fundraising Group we are now beginning to see practical changes.  Look out for more over the coming months.  Stage 2 involves the remodelling of the area between the Year Prep Building and the Canteen.

I would like to thank the school councillors who have driven the creation of the master plan: Kate Lockhart, Renee Colley and Shane Kennedy together with our Environment and Community committees.  I would also like to thank Anna Richardson, Kylie Atkinson and the Parents Fundraising Group for their fundraising efforts that have enabled the plan to become a reality.  Finally I would like to acknowledge the quality of the construction and landscaping efforts of Lincoln Blair and his company Auscapes.

School Winter Market

On Sunday, we held the second of the three Winter markets at school.  This was a huge success thanks to the organisational efforts of Bre Gage, our Market Co-ordinator, and Chris Cawkwell from our School Council.  Bre has run the market very effectively for five years.  During this time the market has raised more than $100,000.  The profits from the school’s market provides more wellbeing support within the inclusion program.  This wellbeing support is accessible by all students.

Year 3 Rubbish Clean Up

We students from Year 3 have been picking up rubbish from the school yard. We have made a group of students to help keep our school rubbish free. Our names are: Macey, Rachel, Mia, Edward, Alana and Ella. We care about the Earth so that’s why we have been picking up rubbish around the school. Please don’t litter our school.

2019 House Athletics Parent Helpers

We are seeking volunteers to help run our House Athletics competition. Our annual House Athletics competition will be held this year on Wednesday, 7th August. For many students, this is one of the highlights of their school year. It is particularly special for the Year 3s as it is their first chance to head to Landy Field and join in the excitement of competition.

To run the day successfully, parent involvement is critical. Without the help of our wonderful parent volunteers, this event would simply not be possible.

The day itself will run from 9:30am until 3:00pm with a short parent briefing at 9:15am. Each parent volunteer will be allocated an event and will also be paired up with an experienced staff member, therefore eliminating the need for any knowledge or experience in athletics (although our Little Aths parents would be very valuable!).

If you are able to help, could you please fill in the form below Read more…
