Thank you to everyone who came along for our parent information evenings last week. We are in a constant process of reflecting on what we do and would be interested in receiving feedback. Please can you email any comments to the school e mail drysdale.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or directly to myself at dunlop-moore.philip.p@edumail.vic.gov.au. Many thanks.

Over the last few months the School Council has been working with a local landscape architect to create a master plan for the development of the school’s grounds. The purpose of the plan is to ensure that, as we raise money to develop our school environment, each section links together into a cohesive whole. The plan was presented to School Council at our meeting last Tuesday evening and a commitment made to develop stages 1 and 2. These are a dedicated Year 5 and 6 area behind the football goals at the Clifton Springs Road end of the oval (Stage 1) and the area between the canteen and the Prep building (Stage 2). Stage 1 will include a permanent home for the Gaga pit and a gravel cycling track which will support the Bike Ed program we run for our older students. We are very grateful to the Parents Fundraising Group for their efforts over the last year and the amazing amount of money they have raised which will fund the construction of both stages. What an awesome effort that will bring benefits to all our children as they move up to these year groups. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of Kate Lockhart, Sally Edgerton and Bridget Henry as part of our School Council Environment Committee and Shane Kennedy, our Leading Teacher with responsibility for parent engagement, for the many hours of work they put into helping to develop the landscape master plan.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the working bee on Sunday morning. We were particularly pleased to welcome some new faces! Jodie Johnson and Lily. Tamara Gemelli and Harmony who worked on shifting some of the playground mulch as did Julie Penfold. Special thanks to Greg Wright: Harrison and Cooper’s dad for emptying and digging in all the Bokashi compost. The veggie garden is all tidy thanks to Fiona Love: Ryan’s mum, Anna King: Ronan’s mum, Kevin McCoughtry: Owen, Adam and Eliza’s dad, Justin Grace and Kate Lockhart and of course Miss Stark. Thanks to Vianne, Lucie and Magenta for distributing soft drink to the worker bees and Tammy and Ava Burke for tidying the east Hall path. Well done.
An extra special thanks to Shaun and Renee Colley for building and donating some materials for the new shelves in the play equipment container. Thanks to Indi, Piper and Archie for stacking the shelves for the first time. Let’s hope everyone can help keep it tidy.
Noah, one of our Shipping Container monitors, is very pleased with the new shelves!
The next working be is May 24th so it should a lot of fun planting the trees and gardens as a part of our new Landscape Master Plan.

There has been a lot of people interested in helping in our classrooms, which is absolutely wonderful. Thank you to everyone who came to the training session on Monday, we know that many of you went to great lengths to attend this session. If you missed out and would still like to volunteer, the next training session will be held during the first week back of Term 2- Wednesday 24th April, 9-10am in the Year 6 rooms. If you would like to be a parent helper in a classroom, you must attend a training session, even if you came along last year.
All volunteers are required to have a Working with Children’s Check and complete their online anaphylaxis training https://etrainingvic.allergy.org.au/

The annual Family Dance Night is approaching again. As we did last year, the dancing will be outside on the basketball courts (weather permitting), which was a very popular move. The night is a wonderful opportunity for families and staff to catch up with each other and for new families to meet the community. Click read more to find out the specific details about dinner options and times.

With a number of new staff joining us this year, we thought it would be great to run a staff profile each week so that our community can get to know them a little better. The first profile for the year features Mr Bruns, who has joined our Year 1 team.

It has been an amazing week at OSHC, with the children continuing to enjoy their time at the service. Popular activities have included dramatic and imaginative play, lego construction, beyblades, hula hoops, cricket, tennis, beading, drawing, playing with puppets, playing with the dolls house.
We have also made up a CD of some of the songs from Family Dance night, to allow the children to practice the family dance night songs during their time at the service, should they wish to. This helps build connections between the service and the school.
