Drysdale Primary School

Family Dance Night

Our annual Family Dance Night is taking place on Thursday March 8th from 5 pm.  Weather permitting we are planning to hold the event on the basketball courts.  This is a change to the previous arrangement and has been made in response to feedback from parents.  Family Dance Night is a fun social evening at which we can welcome everyone to school and allow families to catch up.  The children have been exploring different types of dances in their Performing Arts lessons.  While the evening is not a performance of these dances, the children have the chance to lead the rest of the school in their dance.  There is also a sausage sizzle with coffee available from the canteen.  It is a fun evening, so put the date in your diaries.

Year 5 Visit the Victorian Space Science Education Centre

On Monday and Tuesday of this week the Year 5’s visited the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) in Melbourne to learn all about their Inquiry Big Idea, ‘Earth is part of a system of planets orbiting around a star’. The students had to use their strong mathematical skills to calculate the size and distance between each of the planets and then create a class model of the solar system. Students then put on astronaut flight suits and prepared for a journey to Mars! Whilst one group of students operated all the controls at Mission Control, our DPS students became astronauts and went to Mars. They tested soil samples, learnt how to purify water, operated robots and so much more! Thankyou to VSSEC for an incredible excursion and to the teachers who took them!

Fresh Fruit Friday – Year 2

Each week we request parent volunteers from a year level to help cut up fresh fruit and distribute it to classes. This is a great opportunity for students to try fresh fruit which they might otherwise not eat at home. The children also love seeing their parents drop a box of fruit off to their class. If you have time to spare on a Friday morning we would love your help, regardless of what year level your child is in. Younger siblings are more than welcome to join you and play with the toys as long as they remain supervised. Please sign in at the office and make your way to the staff room from 9am.

This Friday, 23rd February, we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 2 students to help cut up fruit.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.
