Classes for 2019

The children will be bringing home a letter informing you of their teacher for next year.  The children have spent a couple of lessons this morning with their new teacher enjoying being in their next year group.  At Drysdale Primary we provide this information to parents and children early so that everyone can adjust to their new classes.  I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the process of creating these classes.  We have been working on these for about the last six weeks to find the best match for everyone taking into account the many needs and personalities.

School Council

Our School Council held their final meeting of the year last night.  I would like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of our councilors.  There have been significant improvements at school during 2018 that the school council has been involved in.  We have committees which take an interest in Education and Policy, Finance, Community and our school Environment.  Each council member has a role in one of these committees as well as taking part in the monthly meetings.  In addition to this involvement, the school council operates the Drysdale Market.  Bre Gage who is the Market Co-ordinator is one of our parents and council member.  Each month she is supported by two council members and a parent volunteer.  The market is one of the school’s major fundraisers each year.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Staff PD

Our staff utilised the majority of the curriculum day working with the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Team. A group of teachers were fortunate enough to attend Professional Development earlier in the term to learn about implementing this exciting program. We are in the early stages of working on a framework that focuses on teaching desired behaviours to encourage and acknowledge the positive choices students make. Staff are excited to introduce a new behaviour matrix and reward system across the school that will help us consolidate positive environments.

Our vegie garden is looking beautiful at the moment, sunflowers are on the way, the tomatoes are popping up and potatoes are in…it is all happening! But to keep the garden alive and well we need your help to water it over the summer holidays. If you can spare any time to help water the garden over the holidays we would be so grateful. Please email Kate Lockhart at kate.lockhartgrace@gmail.com if you can help out in any way.

Canteen News

As the end of the year gets closer, the canteen will not be restocking items. Items will be deleted from the online ordering as they sell out and children with orders will be offered any alternative if required. The canteen will remain open as normal until the end of term.

Merry Christmas everyone!
