Year 6 Canberra Camp

Last week our Year 6 students and staff made the journey up to Canberra for their 5 day camp. The students and staff had a fantastic time away and made many great learning connections with their current Unit of Inquiry. We were regularly complimented on the manner in which our students behaved, how well they looked in their distinctive school uniforms, their up to date knowledge on the electoral process and their amazing debating abilities in Parliament House.

We need to thank our wonderful staff, Laura, Brooke, Shane, Tim, Jocelyn and Cathy who gave up so much time to help our students get the most out of their visit. We were also very fortunate to have Blanche visit on the Wednesday, a huge effort that was greatly appreciated by all. Finally, we would like to thank our fabulous parent helper, Angie Tainton who was such a great help for both the students and the staff.

Year 3 Camp

This week our Year 3 students will leave for their 3 day camp to Ballarat.  They will be staying at Narmbool and spending some time at Sovereign Hill. There will be lots of nervous and excited students and staff, but we’re sure they will all have a positive first school camp experience. We look forward to sharing some of their stories next week.

Kids Matter Assembly

This week at Kids Matter assembly we took time to understand the value of ‘Gratitude’ and considered how we can each show gratitude towards others in our everyday interactions. During our whole school meditation, the students were encouraged to think of one good thing each night before they go to bed that they can be grateful for. This Kids Matter theme also gave us valuable time to show gratitude towards all those volunteers who helped to run the Spring Fair. We are grateful to;

Our wonderful students, whose energy and enthusiasm made for such a brilliant night. Many of our students gave up their own time to volunteer in the Haunted House or on the Family Fun Games activity. Others performed with the High Voltage Rock School or sold their goods at the Children’s Market Stalls.

Our incredible parents gave up so much time to help set up Spring Fair, volunteer on stalls, bake cakes and help with pack up. A few days out from Spring Fair we were desperately short on volunteers and thought we would have to cancel some of our activities, but thanks to our amazing parent community we were able to provide volunteers for all stalls and activities. Many thanks parents for your ongoing support of our school.

Our staff are extremely busy writing school reports at the moment, but still found time to support our Spring Fair. Our staff were involved in the and, volunteering on Haunted House, Pie Face, Inflatables, Kids Matter zone, administration and helping with all the set up and pack up too. Our teachers, Inclusion team, and Office team are just terrific, thank you all!

Finally a specific word of thanks to the Spring Fair Committee of 2018, led by the incredible Kylie Atkinson. Many thanks to the committee members Anna Richardson, Renee Colley, Clancey McKenzie, Jenna King, Melita Shawcross, Sarah Gallagher, Jen Marhsam, Mel Butler, Andy Booth, Vic Miller, Bec Blair, Tash Daffy, Blanche Denmead and Felicity Stark.

Thanks to this team effort, we are very excited to announce that the Spring Fair raised a clear profit of $15,200 which will go right back into our school. Congratulations everyone on this marvellous result!

Each student will be presented with a graduation certificate and photo and there are a number of audio visual presentations being planned. In a minor change from previous years, we won’t be having a disco after the ceremony as we are also planning a celebration day on Thursday 20 December (more details to come).

Please note – There is also a final assembly on Friday 21 December starting at 9:00am where the awards for Year 6 will be presented.
